Two Chainsaw Secrets – Turning a Tree into Perfect Boards | Advoka MAKES

Having more or less semi-retired from the music biz, I’ve been spending much of my time the last year or so ramping up my homesteading projects. These endeavors often involve lumber, and as you probably know, supply chain issues foisted upon us by draconian Covid Hysteria lockdowns have pushed the price of wood products through the roof. So far I’ve been able to complete my builds using surplus lumber I had onsite, but as my supply diminishes I’m looking at various ways to make my own lumber.

Our property is situated in a densely wooded area of Brown County, Indiana, so I have plenty of standing and recently fallen timber. Most of the dead wood I process into firewood, but it’s processing my live trees into usable lumber that’s the challenge. Investing in a portable bandsaw like a Woodmizer is one option. But this unique freestyle method devised by one of the most inventive homesteaders I know of, Max Egorov of Russia,  is an enticing alternative.

This video is about two hacks you can use to cut a log into perfectly straight and smooth boards by turning your chainsaw into a sawmill without any attachments.
