Every once in awhile I like to expose myself to some quantum theory. Don’t ask me why, because it’s a humbling experience. That said, it usually makes me optimistically excited and a little scared at the same time… which would make sense in a quantum kinda way. I don’t pretend to understand all the stuff in this 2.5 hour flick, but then, neither do any of the really smart people who made it… you can tell they’re somewhat transfixed by the mystery of it all, too. They nonetheless endeavor to express the inexpressible in ways a dumb old guitar player can understand. For this I’m grateful.
One thing that stuck for me was that most folks’ attention span is 6-10 seconds. That’s it. And in my day-to-day, that sounds about right. And yet when I’m playing music, if I get it right I can fall into a trance that lasts as long as the piece of music I’m playing. After which I go all scatter-brained again, of course… but still, there was that stretch of time in there when I was totally focused on the act of playing that piece of music. I’ve often thought that if I could but bring that same level of one-pointedness into all aspects of my life… what was I saying again?
Don’t mind me… sit down with a cool beverage and enjoy the flick. This is the kind of stuff I watch as an alternative to Netflix.
