It often happens that gifted musicians possess additional (and often quite divergent) talents. The artistic wellspring overflows in such folks, and one medium is simply not enough to satisfy their need to create. So it is with StringDancer’s dear friend and groundbreaking classical guitarist, Liona Boyd, who also expresses herself in the medium of oils on canvas. Liona gets this urge honest—both her parents are artists, and raised the young Liona in an environment rich in creativity and travel.
Here, reproduced by permission, are some fine examples of her work in oils. Good friend, retired Navy and present day photographer Steve Parr and I had the pleasure of seeing some of these original paintings on the walls of Liona’s home in Beverly Hills, California. It was very inspiring to spend the day with Ms. Boyd and to experience her energetic and creative approach to life.
