“Soaring” is a 20′ tall solid steel leaf sculpture created by Brown County artists James Conner (metalworker) and Larry Webb (airbrush painter) in partnership with the Town of Nashville and the Elder Heart group. It’s 22 leaves represent the 22 soldiers and veterans who take their own lives every day in the US.
After watching the video please visit ElderHeart.org and make a donation so they can continue their mission to raise awareness of veterans’ suicide rates and build more spectacular artwork.
This video was produced by Brown County photographer Geoff Thompson using the best of the hundreds of photos he has taken of all phases of the assembly of this unique sculpture.
I was quite pleased that Geoff asked me to provide the background music for his video. It’s a track called “Aurora” (aka “The Dawning Of Croatia”) from my 1992 CD, Midnight in Zagreb. More on the CD can be found here.
